Experienced Project Finance Partner Joins Latham & Watkins in London

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Tom Bartlett has joined the firm’s London office as a partner in the Project Development & Finance Practice. Bartlett’s practice focuses on advising developers, sponsors, lenders, buyers, sellers, and other market participants on the development, financing, construction, operation, and acquisition of projects throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and around the world. Bartlett joins Latham & Watkins from White & Case.

“Tom is a highly talented and vastly experienced practitioner with a broad skillset that will further enhance our existing capabilities in Europe and globally,” said Stephen Kensell, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in London. “He brings a stellar track record advising on large and complex financings, and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Bartlett regularly advises on cross-border project finance, acquisition finance, reserve-based lending, Islamic finance, commodity-based financings, export credit finance, and other structured finance transactions across a wide variety of sectors and industries. He has extensive experience working on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas, power, and satellite financings, and he also regularly counsels clients on innovative renewable financings and energy transition transactions.

“Tom’s breadth of experience and established connections are highly complementary to our practice,” added Mo Nurmohamed, Co-Chair of the firm’s Finance Department in London. “He brings a combination of deep energy, infra, and power sector knowledge and experience counselling on high profile, complex matters that will add tremendous firepower to our already strong bench in Europe and around the world.”

“Our project finance team enjoys an excellent reputation for being at the forefront of the global market. Adding a practitioner of Tom’s standing is testament to our global growth strategy and underscores our commitment to offering clients the most experienced, uniquely qualified team that can handle a wide range of complex, cutting-edge assignments,” added Jeff Greenberg, Global Chair of Latham & Watkins’ Project Development & Finance Practice. “Tom is a fantastic lawyer with a proven track-record in multiple jurisdictions and across multiple high growth sectors. A strong practice builder, he will be a tremendous asset for our clients operating in all corners of the globe.”

Bartlett graduated from Leeds University in 1997 with a BA (hons) and qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2001.

Bartlett follows the recent arrivals of Sidharth (Sid) Bhasin and James Clayton-Payne, who joined the firm as corporate partners in the Energy & Infrastructure Industry Group in Singapore. Finance partner Don Stokes will also join Latham in Singapore in the Project Development & Finance Practice and Energy & Infrastructure industry Group. All three partners have extensive experience in the energy, power, infrastructure, and renewables sectors.
