Mr. Jones has over 27 years’ experience in advising on a wide range of IT and outsourcing projects, acting for suppliers and users in relation to numerous outsourcing projects, systems integration contracts, cloud computing, agile systems development, cyber security, data and e-commerce matters. In addition to the technology sector, he has a particular focus on the impact of technology on the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors and has led initiatives on smart manufacturing and 3D printing.
Mr. Jones has significant experience within the health, financial service and retail sectors, particularly in relation to omni-channel retailing, and has considerable expertise in the licensing of high-value brands, the establishment of new sporting events and negotiation of television rights, and a wide range of commercial matters relating to agency, distribution, logistics and supply matters.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Mr. Jones was head of technology and sourcing at DLA Piper in Birmingham.
Stuart James, who leads the Birmingham Intellectual Property & Technology Practice at Squire Patton Boggs, said: “Simon has a very successful track record in advising on high profile IT and outsourcing projects in both the private and public sector. Held in high regard by his clients for his commerciality and technical expertise, Simon will be a great asset; we are excited to welcome him to the firm.”
Birmingham office managing partner Nick Green added: “Simon’s depth of experience presents synergies across various industry sectors; his arrival will particularly enhance the credentials of our well-regarded automotive and manufacturing team in Birmingham.”
“Simon trained and worked in London for 13 years before relocating north, and consequently he has a broad practice with long-established clients based across the UK, with particularly strong connections in London, Birmingham and Leeds that will bring new opportunities to our firm,” commented Andrew Wilkinson, EMEA chair of the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group.
The firm’s global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice has made a number of key appointments and promotions throughout the past 12 months.
