Faegre Drinker announced today that Gary Bellingham has joined the firm as a partner in the finance and restructuring practice group in London. Bellingham comes to the firm from Greenberg Traurig where he was a shareholder.
Since late 2020, Faegre Drinker has added 10 attorneys to its finance and restructuring practice in London, including co-leader of the restructuring & insolvency team Patrick Corr and prominent restructuring and insolvency partner Sue Moore.
Bellingham advises clients on a broad range of finance transactions, including real estate finance, leveraged finance, receivables financing and working capital facilities, as well as corporate recovery and restructuring matters. His broad experience and client base let him help clients identify and navigate risks, and provide practical and commercial advice across their capital structures and financing arrangements.
“Gary brings extensive experience in the sophisticated deals that our London restructuring team is engaged in,” said finance and restructuring practice leader Michael Pompeo. “His significant range of financing work strengthens our cross-border team and our commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients.”
In the real estate sector, Bellingham’s practice covers a wide spectrum of commercial real estate lending arrangements — including investment loans, development loans, capital call financings and other shareholder loan arrangements — acting for lenders and borrowers such as investment funds, developers and operators. He has experience in all major commercial real estate asset types.
In the leveraged finance space, Bellingham advises on acquisition financing transactions and ongoing financing arrangements for sponsors and portfolio companies. He also advises fund clients on subscription line facilities and working capital arrangements. He has experience working alongside restructuring colleagues on corporate workouts, security enforcements and administrations.
“We are thrilled to have Gary join the team,” said Patrick Corr, London partner and co-head of the restructuring & insolvency team. “He is an exceptional lawyer and his experience with complex finance matters and corporate lending position us well to continue to help our clients with their most challenging financial circumstances.”
Bellingham earned his bachelor’s degree from University College, Oxford and completed his Legal Practice Course at Oxford Institute of Legal Practice.
Faegre Drinker’s finance and restructuring practice comprises more than 100 professionals and advises clients across diverse industries on matters from financial transactions, to corporate debt restructurings, to bankruptcy and litigation matters.
