Herbert Smith Freehills has hired Financial Services Regulatory specialist Marina Reason to join its global Corporate and Financial Services Regulatory (FSR) practices as a partner based in London.
Marina joins from Linklaters, where she has been a financial regulatory specialist for over 10 years. She works with a broad range of financial institutions, including investment banks and retail banks, broker-dealers and asset managers advising on all aspects of financial markets regulation. This includes licensing, governance, conduct of business, regulatory change and restructuring, and regulatory considerations for corporate transactions.
Marina will work with the firm’s market leading FSR team across its international network, particularly with partner Clive Cunningham, who heads the advisory (non-contentious) FSR team in London.
Clive Cunningham commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Marina to the firm. We are committed to investing in our global FSR practice and providing top-tier risk and regulatory advice to our clients. Marina’s technical excellence and outstanding client service complements the advisory capability of our integrated regulatory practice. Her particular experience in complex and multi-jurisdictional regulatory change projects, with a wide range of leading financial institutions, strengthens our capability to provide our financial sector clients with strategic and insightful risk and regulatory advice.”
This is the third key partner hire the firm’s top-tier Corporate practice has made in London in just over a year, following the recruitment of Michael Jacobs into its ECM team and David D’Souza into its private equity practice last year. The news also follows the firm’s corporate/insurance team hire in Germany including partners Jan Eltzschig and Heike Schmitz earlier this month.
