Infrastructure and Projects Partner Opts for Eversheds Sutherland

Eversheds Sutherland has emphasised its intent in the infrastructure and projects space with the appointment of lateral Partner hire, Alex Carver, as its Global Co-Head of Project Finance. Alex joins on 1 May from global law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he had been a Partner since 2003.

Alex advises clients on the full range of infrastructure transactions, from greenfield project financings (including PPPs) through to brownfield acquisitions both in the UK and internationally.
Well known for his versatility throughout the infrastructure sector, Alex has a track record of innovative, landmark transactions, throughout MENA whether in transport, telecoms, renewables or other economic or social infrastructure.
Legal industry directory, Chambers UK (2022), describes Alex as being “…sought after for his expertise in … projects and infrastructure developments…” It also notes his ability to “…anticipate[s] issues” and to “…run[s] deals in a very smooth way”, giving a nod to his “great technical skills”.
Simon Waller, Partner and Global Co-Head of Finance at Eversheds Sutherland, said:
“Alex brings a wealth of unrivalled experience and knowledge of the project finance sphere, and we are delighted to welcome him to both the firm and our international team. Client demand for legal and technical excellence within this area is increasing, and we’re committed to ongoing investment in this space in order to meet that demand.”
Alex’s arrival follows that of several other hires into the team including banking lawyer Chris Williams who joined from Linklaters earlier this year, and in the project and project finance space Ashley Halewood in the Middle East and Sindhura Swaminathan and Jacques Bouillon in Paris.
