Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP (Katten) today announced the appointment of partner Oliver Williams to the firm’s growing Corporate practice in London. Williams joins Katten from PwC, where he led a legal team focused on Private Equity Portfolio and sponsor-backed transactions.
Having joined PwC as a partner in the legal practice from DLA Piper in 2015, he previously held the role of director and head of client relationships in the Flexible Legal Resources Group.
Commenting on Oliver Williams’ appointment, Christopher Hitchins, Katten’s London managing partner, said:
“Adding Oliver to our growing London team of corporate and M&A professionals is very exciting, particularly with his strong reputation within the private equity industry. His vast experience in managing complex transactions, both domestically and cross-border will be another huge asset for our London and international offices.”
Williams’ practice focuses on private equity, including acquisitions, disposals and restructurings. He also has considerable experience of domestic and international transactions, and advises on all aspects of M&A, including acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and equity arrangements.
Kimberly T. Smith, global chair of Katten’s Corporate department, remarked:
“Oliver brings a wealth of cross-border private equity experience that will strengthen the dynamic capabilities we offer clients looking to find legal solutions and close sophisticated deals both in the UK and the United States.”
Oliver’s appointment follows a raft of lateral hires for Katten globally, including those of Christopher Harrison, Alice Bell and Sonya Van de Graaff, who have all joined the London office over the past six months.
Oliver Williams added:
“I am thrilled to be joining Katten in London. The firm’s ambitious growth plans and stellar reputation in the corporate world were a strong draw for me. I look forward to contributing to the success of the firm in London.”
