King & Spalding Adds Energy Partner Nina Howell In London

King & Spalding has recruited energy partner Nina Howell to its Corporate, Finance and Investments (CFI) Practice Group in London. She was most recently a partner at Bracewell, which she joined from King & Spalding in 2019.

Howell has more than 20 years of experience advising clients across the energy sector, with a particular focus on the LNG sector. She has represented clients across the LNG chain globally from the development of LNG import and export projects to LNG transportation, sales and trading. Nina also has extensive experience of upstream joint ventures, unitization, M&A and other corporate transactions, across jurisdictions and continents.

“Nina has carved out a reputation with clients and peers alike as an astute and trusted legal adviser on the entire spectrum of critical oil & gas requirements,” said Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s CFI group. “Nina’s international experience also taps into our global energy practice, particularly in EMEA and Asia-Pacific, and has attractive synergies with our energy disputes team, notably LNG price review and renegotiation work and force majeure claims.”

Howell is ranked in Chambers UK and Legal 500 UK, which lists her as a “Next Generation Partner”.

“Nina is not only an incredible lawyer, but she is also a popular colleague and a good friend to many of us across the firm” added Tom Sprange QC, Office Managing Partner in London. “She was held in high esteem across the firm and with her clients and, with her reputation even stronger now, it gives me immense pride to welcome her back.”

Nina follows several laterals in the CFI London team this last year, including financial counsel Kevin Gilroy, who also joins today from Dechert. Other hires include finance partner Benoit Lavigne and finance counsel Andrew Brown and executive compensation and employee benefits partner Robert Marshall.
