Nicholas Dent has joined Locke Lord’s London office as a Partner in the Firm’s Labour & Employment Practice. Dent’s focus on advising clients in the financial and professional services and media sectors on the full range of their employment issues, including high-value discrimination and bonus claims, adds depth to the Firm’s Labour & Employment team and its growing London office.

Dent, who joins the Firm from Clyde & Co where he had been a Partner since 2006, has particular experience in advising on collective redundancies, having advised a national newspaper on a complex restructuring and the associated union consultation, managed a redundancy programme across 19 countries and managed a leading case on the law of collective redundancies in the Tribunal and EAT. He also frequently advises on restrictive covenant disputes and the employment aspects of outsourcing and insolvency-related and other corporate transactions, as well as issues at the interface between employment law and financial regulation and data protection law.

The addition of Dent follows a number of recent key lateral Partner hires in the Firm’s London office, including David Savell, a risk, compliance and regulatory lawyer. Andrew Shindler, who has a broad range of experience working in commercial, technology and intellectual property law, joined the Firm’s Corporate Practice Group. Sean Donovan-Smith, an experienced funds formation and regulatory advisory lawyer, joined the Investment Adviser & Alternative Funds Practice Group, and Ben Henry, a well-known data centre lawyer, joined the Real Estate and Finance Practice Group. The Firm also added seasoned corporate lawyer Sean Page in London. In addition, London’s Ben Hitchens and Siobhan Moore, Global Head of Locke Lord’s Cards and Payments Practice, were recently promoted to Partnership.
Earlier this year, John Olsen, Co-Chair of Locke Lord’s Trademark, Copyright and Advertising Practice Group and Chair of the Firm’s International IP Practice Group, and Hitchens were recognized in the 2018 edition of the World Trademark Review 1000. The Firm’s Trademark Practice also received a bronze band ranking in the United Kingdom: England.
