Latham To Add Talented Infrastructure Partner in London

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that John Guccione will join the London office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Guccione joins the firm from OMERS Infrastructure, where he was Managing Director, Legal. He has substantial experience across a range of complex corporate and financing matters, with a particular focus on transactions involving regulated utilities, energy, and transportation assets.

“John adds depth to Latham’s infrastructure practice and he will provide clients with strong and diverse experience across a range of matters,” said Stephen Kensell, Latham & Watkins’ Office Managing Partner in London. “He has deep connections within the European and global infrastructure community, and his arrival will significantly augment our resources in London and around the world.”

Over the last decade, Guccione has overseen transactions pursued in Europe for OMERS Infrastructure, which manages investments globally in infrastructure on behalf of OMERS, the defined benefit pension plan for municipal employees in the Province of Ontario, Canada.

David Walker, Global Vice-Chair of Latham’s Corporate Department, added: “John’s arrival represents another major step forward in our strategy to establish the leading integrated infrastructure practice globally and build out our private equity platform to cover complimentary asset classes. He brings a wealth of transactional and management expertise that will be of great value to clients. His excellent credentials will help us further strengthen our successful and growing infra practice, and we are excited to welcome a practitioner with his unique blend of experience to the team.”

“John is a key addition to our global infrastructure practice and he will complement our M&A, private equity, and finance capabilities,” said Marc Jaffe, Global Chair of the firm’s Corporate Department. “John is an outstanding leader, and his wide-ranging experience within one of the world’s preeminent infra investors as well as his incredible transactional and regulatory expertise are a perfect fit for our practice. It’s great to have him on-board and part of our team.”

Guccione is the latest high-profile infrastructure specialist to join Latham & Watkins, following the arrivals of corporate partner Brendan Moylan, finance partner Conrad Andersen, and structured finance partner Steve Curtis in London, and corporate partner Mark Cooper in Singapore.

Prior to joining OMERS Infrastructure, Guccione was a member of the energy and infrastructure group at Linklaters in London and the corporate group at Torys LLP in Toronto. He holds a BA from the University of Toronto, and an LLB from Osgoode Hall, York University. He is admitted to practice in Canada and as a solicitor of England & Wales.
