Latham & Watkins Adds Experienced Structured Finance Partner in London

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Jeremiah Wagner has joined the London office as a partner in the Finance Department. Wagner’s practice focuses on advising banks, private equity funds, asset managers, insurance companies, and pension funds on a variety of complex structured finance, securitization, and derivatives transactions. Wagner joins the firm from Cadwalader’s London office.

“Structured finance and securitization are becoming an increasingly common feature across a variety of high yield, leveraged finance, M&A, private equity, and FinTech transactions,” said Jay Sadanandan, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in London. “Jeremiah has experience advising a diversified and highly complementary mix of financial and non-financial clients, and he will add further depth to our growing London team and European practice.”

Wagner has advised extensively across a range of asset classes, including consumer loans, credit card receivables, residential and commercial mortgages, auto loans and leases, insurance products, middle-market CLOs, trade receivables, and synthetic exposures. He also frequently advises on complex regulatory matters affecting the banking and securitization industries, and represents financial institutions and companies in asset-based lending transactions and other similar financings.

“Jeremiah has established an exceptionally strong market reputation, particularly in relation to cutting-edge fintech and asset-backed financings where he is seen as one of the leading lights in structured finance,” added Sanjev Warna-kula-suriya, Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Structured Finance and Securitization Practice. “He has been at the forefront of a number of innovative, market-shaping matters, and he will play a key role in the continued development of our European and global practice.”

“EU economic growth and the Capital Markets Union projects have re-established securitization as an important funding tool,” said Alexandra Hagelüken, Vice Chair of Latham’s global Finance Department. “Jeremiah brings tremendous technical insight and experience across a broad range of asset classes and structured finance techniques, and we are excited to welcome him to our team.”

Wagner is the latest prominent structured finance practitioner to join Latham & Watkins in London, following the arrival of counsel Tom Cochran last year from Goldman Sachs. “With the quality and experience of our structured products team, our global platform, and integrated cross-border US and European regulatory and transactional capability, we are very well positioned to provide a first class service to our clients across the spectrum of complex and innovative financing transactions,” added Warna-kula-suriya.
