Mayer Brown has expanded its Tax Transactions & Consulting practice with the addition of Matthew Mortimer, who joins the firm as a partner in London. Matthew was previously at Milbank.
“We have seen an increase in demand for our tax advisory services, particularly in relation to structured finance, restructurings and private equity,” said James Hill, London head of Tax Transactions & Consulting at Mayer Brown. “Matthew’s arrival adds further depth to our capabilities and enables us to meet this growing client demand. He has a strong track record in corporate and complex finance transactions, which aligns perfectly with Mayer Brown’s work in the global financial industry, the firm’s signature strength.”
Matthew maintains an extensive practice, which includes advising on the taxation of banking, corporate and structured finance transactions, as well as on debt restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and investment fund formation. In addition, Matthew represents clients in international tax planning and is a member of the Law Society’s Corporation Tax Subcommittee.
“Matthew has significant experience in the tax aspects of a wide range of finance transactions and will be a valuable addition to our team,” said Mayer Brown’s senior partner in London, Sally Davies. “We are delighted to welcome talented lawyers such as Matthew to our platform to serve the complex needs of our clients in the UK and around the world.”
“I’m equally delighted to be joining Mayer Brown,” said Matthew. “The firm has a great global platform and an excellent reputation in structured and other forms of finance.”
