International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced the arrival of partners David Broderick, Brian Donnelly and Rachel Kelly along with associates David Brigleb, Harrison Kleinman, and Shane Goodhue and senior associate Kerry Pettigrew in the firm’s Corporate & Transactional Practice Group. Broderick, Donnelly and the team of associates will based in the Firm’s New York office; Kelly and Pettigrew will be based in the firm’s London office. These additions, along with other recent hires, bring the McDermott Real Estate and Finance group to more than 80 lawyers globally, making it one of the industry’s strongest.
Broderick, Donnelly and team will focus on complex real estate transactions, including debt and equity transactions, and all types of restructurings, workouts and dispute resolution. Broderick, who joins from DLA Piper, previously practiced at Latham and was a Managing Director/Counsel for Lehman Brothers real estate and real estate private equity groups. He concentrates on real estate finance, mortgage and mezzanine financing, construction lending, debt syndication, preferred equity, bridge financing and other structured financings. He also handles defaulted mezzanine loans, UCC foreclosure actions, intercreditor/co-lender disputes and other complex defaulted financing transactions, real estate-related litigation, partnership disputes and bankruptcies.

Broderick has extensive experience across many facets of the real estate industry, particularly in debt and equity origination, asset management workouts, litigation and bankruptcies, loan securitization and syndication. He has worked on real estate fund formations, financing facilities and private equity asset level transactions sale and leaseback transactions.
Broderick and Donnelly will work closely with Steiner and colleagues Scott Weinberg, Dino Fazlibegu and Robert Unger, who joined the firm in March 2018 and together provide a range of real estate finance services for developers, lenders, operators, private owners and real estate investment trusts, and landlords and tenants.

On August 1, Rachel Kelly will join the Corporate & Transactional Practice Group in London, where she will focus on securitizations and other structured financings. Kelly represents and advises all market participants, including lenders, arrangers, originators, servicers, issuers, investment managers, funds and bondholders. Her experience includes working in all business sectors and across all major asset classes, with particular expertise in commercial and residential real estate, infrastructure and warehouse financing, as well as collateralized loan obligations, collateralized debt obligations, credit funds and other structured products. Consistently ranked by Chambers and The Legal 500, Kelly brings 30 years of market experience to enhance the firm’s international real estate finance capabilities. She will work closely with Laurence Rogers, Neville Wright and Tom Calnan, who joined the firm in May 2018.
