Kirkland & Ellis International LLP is pleased to announce that Michael Steele will join the Firm’s London office as a partner in the Finance Practice Group. Mr. Steele advises private equity sponsors, credit funds and financial institutions across a broad range of complex and cross-border financing transactions, including leveraged and real estate finance, special situations investments, loan portfolio acquisitions, and restructurings.
“Michael is recognized as one of the top finance lawyers in the market and has developed a strong reputation for handling complex transactions, particularly on the sponsor side,” said Jeffrey C. Mr. Steele joins Kirkland from the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He holds commerce and law degrees from Bond University and spent 12 months on the leveraged finance team at Goldman Sachs in 2010.
He was awarded “London’s Rising Star” in 2012 by CityAM and was named one of Europe’s “40 under 40: Rising Stars of Legal Service” by Financial News in 2013. He is listed as an “up and coming” banking and finance lawyer by Chambers & Partners.
