Morgan Lewis Adds Energy and Infrastructure Partner Ayesha Waheed in London

Morgan Lewis today welcomes corporate lawyer Ayesha Waheed, who focuses on international energy and infrastructure transactions, as a partner resident in London. Ayesha has significant experience throughout Europe and in emerging markets in Africa and Asia, particularly Southeast Asia. She arrives from Latham & Watkins.

Ayesha, an England & Wales and New York qualified lawyer, has represented developers and lenders in oil and gas, power generation, and infrastructure projects around the world. She advises on all aspects of structuring, negotiating, and drafting finance and commercial documents in connection with international project financings and privatisations. Her appointment follows the recent hires of a project finance partner in Boston and corporate partners in London with experience throughout Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.

“I am delighted to welcome Ayesha to Morgan Lewis. She will play an important role in expanding our energy and infrastructure capabilities both in London and globally, particularly in emerging markets,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Given the prominence of English law in these transactions, clients will benefit significantly from her broad geographical coverage.”

Earlier this year, Ayesha was recognised for her work by Euromoney LMG in its annual Europe Women in Business Law Awards as “Best in Project Finance.” She is also ranked as “highly regarded” by IFLR 1000 in three categories: Banking, Project Development, and Project Finance, and she is recognised for Projects by Chambers UK.

“With her significant experience in international project financings and privatizations, Ayesha brings a truly global perspective to our practice,” said Steve Browne, leader of Morgan Lewis’s global corporate and business transactions practice. “Advising on transactions from Turkey to Kazakhstan to Chad, Ayesha is poised to meet the legal needs of our top-tier project finance, infrastructure, and natural resources clients worldwide.”

“We are excited to have Ayesha join us in London,” said Frances Murphy, managing partner of the London office. “Her skillset is complementary to our existing project finance and corporate capabilities in the natural resources sector in London, and she will further elevate our proposition to clients here and internationally.”
