Noted Energy Lawyer Lewis Jones Joins Baker Botts in London

Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, announced today that Lewis Jones, an energy transactions specialist, has joined the firm’s London office as a partner in its Global Projects group. Lewis was previously a partner for almost five years with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP an international law firm in London. Prior to this, he was a partner with Vinson and Elkins, which included several years spent based in the United Arab Emirates.

“Lewis is a valuable addition to our Global Projects team. His advisory track record for clients in the upstream, midstream and downstream energy sectors, including power generation (both conventional and renewables) and energy storage is second to none. His appointment demonstrates our commitment to the energy sector and to strengthening our international network, in London and elsewhere,” said Andrew M. Baker, Managing Partner of Baker Botts.

“I am delighted that Lewis has chosen to join Baker Botts. He has an excellent understanding of the corporate issues and commercial drivers facing today’s energy industry, including industry consolidation, the increasing role of private equity and the development of new technologies. As part of our market leading team, he will play a vital role counselling our clients on a wide range of global projects. We’re dedicated to growing our team in London by hiring the best legal talent available in the City, and the addition of Lewis represents a key step towards realising our ambitions,” said Mark Rowley, Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s London office.

“Baker Botts is a leading international energy firm, and I am pleased to be joining such a dedicated team of talented and enterprising energy advisors in the London office. The energy industry is undergoing profound change in both the oil and gas and power sectors, both in terms of the way transactions are structured and the entry of new participants. In addition, renewable power (and related energy storage projects) continues to develop rapidly, with notable growth in emerging markets. Baker Botts will play a key role in advising its clients as the industry changes and I hope my experience and capabilities will contribute to those efforts,” said Mr. Jones.

Mr. Jones obtained a BA (Hons) from Newcastle University, England, and a CPE and Finals from the College of Law in Lancaster Gate, England. He is qualified to practice law in England and Wales.
