International legal practice Osborne Clarke announces the partner appointment of Tim Hewens (formerly Partner and UK Head of Private Equity) from Squire Patton Boggs.
Tim is a very well-known and highly regarded private equity Partner. He has a very strong institutional and management client base, which is hugely complimentary to Osborne Clarke’s private equity client base and he has a strong track record of doing deals. Tim is highly ranked by Chambers UK and Legal 500 for private equity work and will join Osborne Clarke’s existing London-based Partners Mark Spinner, Russell Van Praagh and Greg Leyshon along with the other seven private equity Partners practising in its other UK offices.
Mark Spinner, senior Partner and Private Equity Team leader in London, said:
“Tim is a very well regarded and well established partner in the London private equity market that we have had the pleasure of working with on numerous deals. His client base and style of doing deals will combine very well with Osborne Clarke’s existing practice. We are delighted to have him join the team.”
Greg Leyshon, senior Partner and Head of Osborne Clarke’s Business Transactions Group, said:
“Private equity is a strategic focus for Osborne Clarke and we are very pleased to add Tim to the team in London. This appointment follows the original recruitment of Mark Spinner (formerly Head of Private Equity at Eversheds Sutherland) and Russell Van Praagh (formerly Private Equity Partner at McDermott Will and Emery) into our Private Equity Team in London over the last four years and the internal promotion of Bristol-based Venture Partner Simon Jones and Private Equity Fund Formation Partner, Helen Parsonage, in May of this year.”
Osborne Clarke’s Private Equity team is led by Alisdair Livingstone and is a leading practice in the UK and across Europe. With Tim on board, the practice, which has seen revenues nearly quadruple over the last five years, expands to 11 (up from a team of five, five years ago) specialist private equity focussed partners covering mainstream private equity, growth/development capital, venture and fund formation work. The Private Equity Team works closely with Osborne Clarke’s sector specialists exploiting opportunities and doing deals in digital business, financial services/fintech, energy, real estate and retail/consumer. The team is ranked as a leading practice for its private equity work in both Chambers and Legal 500.
