Akin Gump today announced that global financial restructuring leader Sam Brodie has rejoined the firm as a partner in its financial restructuring practice in London. Brodie was a partner at Akin Gump from 2018 to 2021, and his return strengthens the firm’s leading financial restructuring practice in London as global macroeconomic trends increasingly impact clients across all industries. Brodie rejoins the firm from Shearman & Sterling LLP.
Dechert LLP announced today that Colin Sharpsmith has returned to the firm as a partner in the financial services and investment management practice based in London, strengthening the firm’s financial services regulation capability. His return to the firm marks the seventh lawyer to return to Dechert as a partner in 2021-2022, following Richard Pugh, Kathleen Mylod, Alon Goldberger, Sonia Gioseffi, Jon Burke and Steve Engel. Sharpsmith returns to the firm after four years with Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
International law firm Osborne Clarke has hired experienced corporate energy partner Matt Lewy, who joins the firm’s team in London. Most recently a partner in Womble Bond Dickinson’s energy and infrastructure team, Matt previously held roles at CMS and Baker Botts.
Squire Patton Boggs is further strengthening its Litigation Practice with the addition of Lucy Webster who joins the firm from Eversheds Sutherland. Ms. Webster is the second partner to join the team in as many months, following Christian Toms who arrived from Brown Rudnick LLP in July.

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP continues the expansion of its global privacy and cybersecurity practice with the addition of Sarah Pearce as a partner in the firm’s London office. Pearce most recently led Paul Hastings LLP’s U.K. and European privacy and cybersecurity practice from the firm’s London and Paris offices, advising companies on data privacy and security issues in the U.K. and across Europe, including the impact of Brexit negotiations and the aftermath of the U.K.’s departure from the EU.

Elwell-Sutton’s vast experience with all aspects of contentious, advisory and transactional employment law adds depth to Locke Lord’s growing London office. Prior to joining Locke Lord, Elwell-Sutton was a partner at Clyde & Co for 11 years.
Akin Gump today announced that Matthew Hardwick and Daniel Giemajner have joined the firm as project finance and development partners in its London office. Their practices focus on global energy, infrastructure and natural resources projects spanning a range of sectors, including core and non-core infrastructure, renewable power, mining, gigafactories, battery and energy storage, electric vehicles, carbon capture and storage and clean hydrogen. The pair most recently practiced in the London office of Norton Rose Fulbright.
Eversheds Sutherland today announces the hire of heavyweight insurance professional Mark Everiss as a partner in its Insurance Group. Mark was previously a partner with Cooley, where he led their global insurance practice group for five years.
