Frost was previously a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London. His arrival comes on the heels of private equity partner Paul Dunbar, who joined V&E in February from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
“Ian has spent his career immersed in handling the needs of London’s most prominent banking and finance clients, and he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table,” said Erec Winandy, co-head of the firm’s Finance Practice. “His multi-national experience is a perfect fit for V&E’s growing Finance Practice and we couldn’t be happier that he’s joined our team.”
Frost has a broad range of experience across the banking products with a focus on leveraged and distressed lending as well as corporate treasury transactions, bank/bond financings and restructurings. His clients, for whom he has handled an array of financings, have included leading private equity firms, international banks and companies such as BC Partners, Deutsche Bank and Permira.
“The opportunity that this move to V&E presents was too good to pass up,” Frost said. “The firm’s culture of collaboration across practices and offices throughout the world is particularly exciting, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
Frost received his law degree from Oxford University and is admitted to practice in England and Wales. He has extensive experience in cross-border transactions and spent seven years working in Frankfurt.
“Since opening in London in 1971, the city has been a key market for V&E and we are extremely focused on continuing to build our presence there,” said Alex Msimang, managing partner of V&E’s London office. “Ian is exactly the type of partner we look for at the firm and we know he will be an excellent fit.”
The firm’s London office recently relocated to new offices on 8 February 2016 at 20 Fenchurch Street, widely known as the “Walkie Talkie” building because of its distinctive shape.
In January, V&E added partner Trevor Wommack to the Finance Practice in Houston. Wommack focuses his practice on syndicated lending in the energy sector.
V&E’s Finance Practice consists of more than 50 attorneys. The group is active in a diverse array of financing transactions, and is particularly strong in the energy sector, where it represents arrangers, mezzanine investors and other alternative lenders, financial sponsors and corporate borrowers throughout the energy chain, including upstream oil and gas, midstream, refining, oilfield services, power generation and distribution and renewables.
