Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that David Little will join the London office as a partner in the Litigation & Trial Department. Little’s practice focuses on advising clients on a variety of complex UK, EU, and international competition law matters, including merger control, anticompetitive agreements, abuse of dominance, litigation, and sectoral regulation.
“We are pleased to welcome David to our London office. Expanding our M&A and disputes capabilities remains a strategic priority for the firm, and David’s experience and market knowledge are strongly aligned with our practice strengths in London,” said Jay Sadanandan, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in London. “David enjoys tremendous respect for his legal talents and commercial acumen, and his arrival is an exciting development for our growing City practice.”
Little has particular expertise in the media and entertainment, communications, technology, life sciences, financial services, and energy sectors. He regularly represents clients before the European Commission and the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), and he represents clients in litigation before the European Courts in Luxembourg and the UK High Court. He also has extensive experience appearing before administrative agencies outside of the EU and UK.
“The global enforcement and regulatory landscape has shifted markedly in recent years,” added Oliver Browne, Local Department Chair of the Litigation Department in London. “We expect the CMA to take on an increasing number of high-profile merger cases and more complex antitrust investigations, as well as assuming greater responsibility for enforcing State aid rules across the UK. David’s track record advising clients facing business-critical challenges and high-stakes mergers will add further heft to our UK and European practice at a time when we anticipate a heightened regulatory environment.”
“We have established a world-class global antitrust practice equipped to handle complex, market-shaping matters for multinationals,” said Sven Völcker, Vice Chair of the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice. “David is an astute strategist, an experienced transactional lawyer and an outstanding advocate in a wide range of substantive areas involving big-ticket competition disputes, government investigations, and regulatory matters. He brings a compelling blend of experience and market insights that will be of great value to clients in the UK, Europe and globally.”
Little joins Latham & Watkins from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. He completed an LLM at the London School of Economics and was admitted to the New York bar in 2008, qualifying as a solicitor of England & Wales in 2014. He was seconded to the CMA during 2015.
