Leading international law firm Proskauer is pleased to welcome Mary Wilks as a partner in its Mergers & Acquisitions practice. Mary will be based in the Firm’s London office and brings to the firm deep expertise in UK and European antitrust and competition law, particularly in the context of transactional matters. Mary joins from Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer.

Mary’s practice focuses on a broad range of EU and UK competition law, antitrust and foreign investment advice for clients across M&A transactions, equity investments, consortium transactions, and secondaries. She has experience advising on behavioral investigations, complex supply and distribution arrangements and foreign investment controls including, notably, the UK’s newly adopted National Security and Investments Act.
With more than a decade’s experience in UK and European competition law, including expertise in a broad spectrum of global merger control and antitrust issues, Mary regularly counsels clients in their engagement with the Competition Market Authority, the European Commission, and other prominent international enforcement agencies and regulatory authorities.

Mary received her B.A. from Magdalen College, Oxford, with Honors, and her Master’s degree from King’s College London. She completed her Legal Practice Course and Postgraduate Diploma in Law from BPP University Law School.

This is the sixth partner that Proskauer has welcomed partners globally in 2023. John Mahon (Investment Management, Washington DC) and Stephen Hibbard (Litigation, Los Angeles) joined the Firm in April and Matthew Kerfoot (Finance, New York), Gregory Knopp (Labor & Employment, Los Angeles) practice and Robert Pommer (Litigation, Washington, D.C.) joined in February. Proskauer’s London office has also seen exceptional growth of late. The Firm’s London office has welcomed seven partners since 2021. In 2022, the Firm welcomed Liam Arthur (M&A), Frazer Money (Tax), Adrian Cohen (Restructuring) and Barry Newman (Finance). In 2021, Rebecca Villarreal (M&A), Peter Olds (Private Funds) and Steven Baker (Litigation) joined the Firm.
