Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan UK LLP announced today that litigator Gemma Anderson is joining the firm as a partner. Gemma was previously at Morrison & Foerster where she was a partner specialising in complex, cross-border disputes.
Gemma’s practice focuses on privacy and data protection, contentious insolvency, technology and contractual disputes. She advises clients across a host of industries in relation to high-end commercial litigation and also has extensive experience of international arbitration. Gemma recently represented Fujitsu Services Limited in the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry and is also acting for SoftBank Group in relation to the US$440m claim by Credit Suisse related to the collapse of Greensill Capital, in which Quinn Emanuel is instructed for the SoftBank defendants.
Gemma said, “Having worked as co-counsel with Quinn Emanuel on a large dispute I know all about the talent and drive within the firm’s London office. Its entrepreneurial nature and reputation for winning the most difficult cases is second to none and I anticipate a great fit from both a cultural and practice perspective.”
Quinn Emanuel has now made four significant lateral partner hires in London in the past year with arbitration specialist Melis Acuner joining from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft; IP partner David Lancaster joining from Pinsent Masons and competition partner Lambros Kilaniotis joining from RPC. The firm now has 29 partners and 86 associates/of counsel in London.
Richard East, Quinn Emanuel’s London Senior Partner, said: “Gemma is an excellent lawyer with all the qualities required to succeed at Quinn Emanuel. She will be a great addition to our London practice.”
