Reed Smith Continues Expansion of Global Corporate Group With Hire of Sam Webster

Global law firm Reed Smith today announced that Sam Webster will join as partner in its Global Corporate Group in London in January. The news highlights the group’s continued expansion in Europe, following the recent hire of life sciences partner Iqbal Hussain in London and tax partner Martin Bünning in Frankfurt. Webster, who is joining the firm following 15 years at Mayer Brown, has extensive experience working with large corporates and financial investors across a broad range of sectors including energy & natural resources, real estate, financial services and technology.

Recognised for his expertise advising clients on complex cross-border corporate transactions, Webster focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital.

Delphine Currie, co-chair of the Global Corporate Group, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Sam to the firm. His technical expertise coupled with his track record in a number of Reed Smith’s core industry focus areas make him a great fit for the firm. We have ambitious plans to continue to enhance the corporate practice across Europe, and Sam is an integral part of our strategy.”

Andrew Jenkinson, London office managing partner, said: “We are delighted to further enhance our capabilities with Sam’s arrival in the London office. He will be a fantastic addition to the team and an exceptional asset to our clients.”

Webster commented: “I am delighted to be joining Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group, which has a standout reputation in the market. Its international platform and broad capabilities across key industry groups make Reed Smith the ideal firm to further build my practice.”

Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group covers all aspects of corporate and commercial law and spans the firm’s 29 offices. The European corporate practice based in London, Paris, Munich, Frankfurt and Athens has undergone significant growth over the past few years with the arrival of a multijurisdictional team from King & Wood Mallesons at the start of 2017 specialising in corporate, M&A, private equity, capital markets and tax; a tax team from Winston & Strawn in Paris later that year, and the addition of Florian Hirschmann in Munich in 2018.
