Squire Patton Boggs is further strengthening its Litigation Practice with the addition of Lucy Webster who joins the firm from Eversheds Sutherland. Ms. Webster is the second partner to join the team in as many months, following Christian Toms who arrived from Brown Rudnick LLP in July.
“Lucy is a top-class lawyer with impressive and varied experience handling complex disputes and we are delighted to welcome her to the firm,” said UK head of Litigation, Stephen Sampson. “Our London Litigation Practice continues to thrive, and we’ve also seen new opportunities to win disputes work coming out of the expansion of our corporate and financial services teams. Lucy gives us greater strength in depth to handle our growing caseload, and her energy and collaborative approach will be valued by colleagues and clients alike.”
Ms. Webster, who is identified by Legal 500 as a ‘Rising Star’ in commercial litigation, specialises in high value domestic and cross-border disputes in the High Court, Court of Appeal and international arbitration under the main institutional rules. Experienced in all types of alternative dispute resolution, she has advised on mediations involving multiple stakeholders and complex expert determination processes. Ms. Webster also acts for high profile clients where reputational risk is a material factor in the strategic direction of business interests. She brings particular expertise within Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and the clean energy sector, as well as a track record in IP, media and sports disputes.
In the last year, Ms. Webster has provided pro bono support to members of the Afghan Judiciary who have been in hiding and seeking to relocate to the UK or other safe jurisdictions. This has included advising on judicial review proceedings in a number of cases, as well as driving an initiative to support the few who have reached the UK to resume their legal careers.
On joining the firm, Ms. Webster commented, “I am delighted to join the highly-regarded Litigation group here at Squire Patton Boggs. I look forward to working with the global team to grow this dyamic practice and particularly to contribute to our expertise in the ESG, clean energy, sports and media spaces.”
Lucy Webster follows the appointment of Government Investigations and White Collar specialists Hannah Laming, Wayne Barnes and Ben Ticehurst in March, and Africa projects and disputes specialist Timi Balogun at the end of last year.
