Global Law firm Shearman & Sterling today announces the appointment of Helena Potts as a Financial Restructuring & Insolvency partner in London. Helena’s arrival follows the recent recruitment of Sam Brodie and the hire of Alex Wood in September 2020. It is part of the ongoing expansion of the firm’s European restructuring practice. Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling Helena Potts was a partner at Latham & Watkins LLP.
Helena Potts has a broad restructuring practice, with experience acting on sponsor, debtor and creditor mandates. She has a particular focus on substantial complex cross-border restructurings. Helena also has extensive experience advising private equity clients. Her addition further augments our offering and diverse and comprehensive restructuring skill set.”
Alex Wood, London Restructuring Partner, said: “Helena is a fantastic addition to our growing London Financial Restructuring & Insolvency team. The team’s enhanced scale ensures we can continue to provide our clients with the legal expertise and insight they need to navigate the challenges they face in the current market conditions. Ward McKimm, European Managing Partner, added: “ Helena brings excellent additional expertise to our now sizeable and growing English law restructuring offering. She will play a key role in developing our restructuring practice in the region, alongside Alex and Sam. Her practice also has strong synergies with our growing private equity offering. Helena is indicative of the execution of our strategy to focus on growing core practices, such as restructuring, as well as aligning our geographic footprint and growing the partnership through internal promotions and lateral hires across Europe and beyond.”
Shearman & Sterling’s recent London restructuring hires include Sam Brodie and Helena Potts as well as new counsel hires Kevin Heverin and Tom Mckay and additional associates Jamie Turley and Kate O’Donoghue.
