Global law firm Shearman & Sterling today announces that Maegen Morrison has joined the firm as a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) partner in London. Maegen Morrison joins Shearman & Sterling from Hogan Lovells.
Maegen advises on corporate finance transactions for listed companies, financial sponsors, financial advisers and large private companies. She has extensive expertise advising companies on public and private M&A and issuers and underwriters in IPOs, restructurings and acquisition financings.
“Maegen’s corporate, private capital and financial institutions expertise bolsters our English law M&A capabilities, reinforcing our strong global platform,” said David Beveridge, Senior Partner at Shearman & Sterling. “Maegen’s appointment is part of the continued expansion of our M&A practice globally and complements our growing restructuring offering. This is a key component of our long-term strategy focused on expanding core practice areas with the greatest potential for growth.”
Commenting on Maegen joining the firm, Phil Cheveley, Head of Mergers & Acquisitions in EMEA and Asia, stated: “We are excited to welcome Maegen to the firm and to continue the expansion of our English Law M&A practice. Maegen’s extensive expertise in corporate finance transactions further deepens the team’s ability to provide clients with innovative and tailored legal and commercial solutions throughout a transaction life-cycle and beyond. Maegen’s addition is part of our strategy to grow our London M&A capabilities, offering clients dual English law and U.S. law M&A capabilities as part of our robust global platform.”
Maegen Morrison added: “I am thrilled to be joining such a well-regarded global M&A group. I look forward to working with Phil and the rest of the London team to support clients in the execution of their most strategically important and complex public and private M&A deals, throughout Europe and beyond.”
Shearman & Sterling has continued to expand core practice areas with 25 lateral hires globally (including Maegen) since January 2021. Shearman & Sterling significantly increased its corporate offering in Europe last year with the hire of Xavier Norlain’s team in Paris and Florian Harder and Jann Jetter in Munich. Maegen’s hire is part of the ongoing expansion of our London M&A offering, following the appointment of Phil Cheveley last year as Head of Mergers & Acquisitions in EMEA.
