International law firm Simmons & Simmons announced today the recruitment of banking specialist Kirsty Barnes, who will be joining as partner in our international banking practice on 12 November, based in London. Her arrival follows the recent appointments of James Taylor, Jens Golz and Michaela Sopp who joined teams in London, Frankfurt and Munich earlier this year, boosting the firm’s international banking and finance offering. Kirsty joins the firm from Gowling WLG where she was a partner and head of banking and finance in the UK.
These new appointments mark the expansion of the firm’s banking practice which over recent years has grown its percentage of work for non-clearing bank lenders and cemented its position as a market-leading team. Kirsty will work to ensure the firm continues to meet the growing needs of clients who are active in banking and real estate finance across all sub-sectors and asset classes.
With 20 years’ experience in the financial markets sector, Kirsty will greatly enhance the firm’s offering in these areas and assist the continued plans for growth. Her key credentials include acting for a major UK lender to put in place facilities for a high-profile London restaurant group and an EIB-backed fund on its first lending transaction to allow regeneration of workspaces in Manchester at the Soapworks site.
Kirsty will work closely with Peter Manning, head of the firm’s banking group in the UK.
