Squire Patton Boggs Expands London Litigation Practice with Partner Hire

Squire Patton Boggs is strengthening its Litigation Practice with the addition of Christian Toms, who has joined the firm in London as a partner from Brown Rudnick.

“I am very pleased to welcome Christian to the firm,” said Stephen Sampson, UK head of Litigation. “Christian is highly regarded with a depth and breadth of experience in sectors that are important to us and our clients. He joins a number of senior hires that we have made over the last few months to further build on our fast-growing top tier profile and caseload in contentious and regulatory work.”

A qualified barrister and solicitor, Mr. Toms has wide ranging disputes experience, particularly those arising from complex financial arrangements and investments including securitisation structures, as well as joint venture and director/shareholder disputes. He has acted for and against investment banks, hedge funds, pension funds and other investors as well as individuals and companies in a diverse range of industries including technology, construction and pharmaceuticals/healthcare.

In addition to his focus on financial disputes, Mr. Toms is also experienced in cryptocurrency and related issues, including cyber fraud.

On his arrival at the firm, Mr. Toms commented: “I’m excited to join the disputes team here at Squire Patton Boggs and to have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our Litigation practice, particularly our offering in the arena of complex financial disputes. I also look forward to developing my broader disputes practice with the benefit of the breadth and depth offered by my new colleagues across the firm’s network of global offices.”

Christian Toms follows the appointment of Government Investigations and White Collar specialists Hannah Laming, Wayne Barnes and Ben Ticehurst in March, and Africa projects and disputes specialist Timi Balogun at the end of last year.
