Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce the hire of corporate tax lawyer Ed Denny as a partner in the firm’s London office. Ed, who most recently served as head of Orrick’s London tax department, will support Winston’s domestic and cross-border corporate and finance practices.
Ed focuses his practice on the tax aspects of corporate finance transactions and structures, including mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies. He also has a particular interest in international tax issues and the technology sector.
“Ed’s practice dovetails with our existing transactions offerings and will help our clients navigate tax implications on a wide range of issues,” said Winston Chairman Tom Fitzgerald. “His global and cross-border experience will increase our ability to support M&A and private equity transactions, among others.”
“As we continue to grow our corporate practice in London, it is all the more important for our clients that we have the type of expertise Ed can offer in-house,” added Peter Crowther, Winston’s London managing partner. “Ed has a solid reputation in the market and his arrival marks a significant milestone strengthening our practice.”
Ed has supported a number of high profile transactions and was selected by Tax Journal as one of its “40 under 40” list of the UK’s leading young tax practitioners. His work has also been recognized by the International Tax Review’s European Tax Awards with the 2016 European Joint Venture Tax Deal of the Year award.
“I am delighted to be joining Winston & Strawn, especially at a time when the firm is concentrated on further developing its transactions capabilities to support its clients. I look forward to collaborating with the firm’s corporate department partners to support cross-border transactions in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East,” said Ed.
