Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce the addition of top-tier trial attorneys and intellectual property partners, Allan E. Anderson and Timothy L. Skelton, to its nationally recognized Complex Litigation and Intellectual Property practices. Mr. Anderson’s practice encompasses a wide variety of intellectual property matters from trademarks and trade secrets to patent infringement, copyright, and false advertising. Mr. Skelton brings extensive experience in trademark and trade dress litigation matters, including infringement actions, licensing and domain name disputes, and other Internet-related cases.
“While technological advances have created tremendous opportunities for almost any business from music to manufacturing and fashion to film, they also have opened the door to the infringement of many companies’ most valuable assets — their intellectual property,” said Robert C. O’Brien, California Managing Partner. “Allan and Tim will be a valuable resource for our clients and strengthen our IP team, while providing years of experience advising clients on how to protect their IP assets and vigorously pursue infringers at home and abroad.”
Mr. Anderson comes to Arent Fox from Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley, where he served as Managing Partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office and grew the firm from 20 lawyers to more than 40 at its peak. He represents clients in the entertainment, manufacturing, real estate, and technology industries including such household names as Amazon.com, Natural Organics, Inc., Accessible Technologies, Inc., Trimble Navigation, Ltd., and Sunrise Senior Living, Inc.
In addition to his substantial experience in federal and superior courts throughout California, Mr. Anderson is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States. He is also a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA) — a honorary society of trial lawyers selected for excellence in litigation and superior ethics and a designation bestowed on less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. He received his JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Mr. Skelton, a former small business owner, serves as counsel to numerous small and mid-sized businesses — the engine of growth in California — including companies in the automotive, manufacturing, sports, and technology industries. He advises them on contracts, intellectual property protection, risk management, employment issues, regulatory compliance, and other business matters, as well as representing them in litigation involving trademarks and trade dress, domain names, unfair competition, copyrights, patents, antitrust, shareholder disputes, and other business litigation.
An avid car and motorcycle enthusiast, Mr. Skelton’s clients include new and used car dealers, automotive and motorcycle aftermarket distributors and manufacturers, and professional racing teams. He graduated cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was a member of the San Diego Law Review and the Order of the Coif, and voted USD’s Most Outstanding Civil Clinic Student.
