Winston & Strawn LLP has announced that two attorneys have joined the firm’s transactional practice from Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. Edward V. Kayukov and Laurae Rossi, both project finance attorneys, join Winston & Strawn as partners in the Los Angeles office. The firm has now welcomed approximately 20 attorneys in the last 12 months to its Los Angeles office. The recent hire comes on the heels of the firm’s opening of an office in Silicon Valley, which brings Winston & Strawn’s presence on the West Coast to three offices.
“We are very pleased to welcome Edward and Laurae to the firm as we continue to focus on expanding our corporate capabilities in Los Angeles. They are highly regarded in the project finance area, and we are fortunate that they have chosen to be partners of Winston & Strawn,” said Eric Sagerman, Winston & Strawn Los Angeles office managing partner.
“Edward and Laurae’s experience perfectly complements our existing platform in energy and infrastructure project financings in the United States,” said Jerry Bloom, partner and chair of the firm’s energy, project development, and finance practice group. “We’re delighted to welcome them to Winston & Strawn.”
Mr. Kayukov focuses his practice in project finance, with a specialty in representing parties within the renewable energy sector in the development and financing of independent power, transmission, and infrastructure projects in the United States. Mr. Kayukov’s work was recognized as a “Renewable Deal of the Year” by Project Finance International and Project Finance each year from 2008-2010.
Ms. Rossi joins the firm alongside Mr. Kayukov, with whom she has worked for eleven years. She brings additional experience in the development, acquisition, and financing of offshore oil rigs, and toll roads in the United States and Latin America.
“We are impressed with Winston’s growth in California, talent, and commitment to clients,” said Mr. Kayukov. “We are excited to join such a great team of lawyers, and a nationally ranked energy practice.”
