Greenberg Traurig Real Estate Practice Continues Expansion in California with Addition of Dana S. Treister

The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced that Dana S. Treister has joined its Los Angeles office as a shareholder in the Real Estate Practice Group. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Treister was a partner with Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP.

Treister’s practice is concentrated in transactional real estate with a focus on the acquisition and sale of commercial properties, real estate finance, land use and entitlement work and commercial leasing transactions. He has extensive experience representing parties in the formation of joint ventures and in structuring tax-advantaged real estate transactions. In recent years, Treister has represented borrowers in numerous multi-million dollar conduit loan transactions and coordinated the defeasance and re-financing of existing debt instruments. 
Treister recently represented of one of the world’s largest engineering firms in a $320 million sale of its corporate campus, the largest deal to close in Los Angeles County in recent years. Other notable transactions include the acquisition of a series of large regional shopping centers with multiple national tenants; the refinancing of a $300 million office tower in Century City, Calif.; the acquisition of a major office and retail building on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Calif.; and the acquisition of a portfolio of triple net leased properties valued at $85 million. Treister has taken on tough real estate challenges for a variety of clients ranging from small real estate private equity funds to large multi-national corporations.

Treister holds a J.D. from the University of Southern California (USC) Gould School of Law and a B.A. from Stanford University. He serves as an adjunct professor teaching Real Estate Transactions at USC Law School. In 1994-1995 he clerked for the Honorable John G. Davies in the Central District of California.
