Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP announced today that Jeffrey A. Finn has joined its Century City office and will head the firm’s West Coast Patent Practice. Finn represents start-up, emerging growth and large corporations in all aspects of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent litigation.
“We fully expect that Jeff’s experience in patent law will catapult our West Coast intellectual property practice to a new level,” said Vincent A. F. Sergi, Katten’s national managing partner. “His presence allows us to broaden the types of services we offer our clients and to build a premier patent practice on the West Coast. We’re very glad to have him.”
Josh Wayser, managing partner of Katten’s Century City office, said, “Jeff is an accomplished patent lawyer such that our West Coast patent practice will be up and running immediately. Katten has technology, electronics and other major clients who have growing patent needs, particularly on the West Coast. Jeff will enable us to meet this growing need.”
Similarly, Robert Breisblatt, co-head of Katten’s national IP Practice, said, “This gives Katten’s national IP Practice a significant presence on the West Coast and will allow us to provide full-time, on-the-ground support for our national patent litigation there.”
Finn, who previously was at Sidley Austin LLP, advises clients in all aspects of intellectual property, with an emphasis on patents, from rights creation through dispute resolution, as well as on deal work with significant IP/patent components, such as licensing, evaluation and due diligence. He has significant experience serving the IP needs of financial institutions (e.g., as technology users and developers of financial products), as well as in many high-tech fields such as electronic payment and information technology systems, encryption, optical and wireless communications, computer and microprocessor systems and video systems. He also has represented clients in the medical field on matters involving a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
