Michael Tomasulo Joins Winston & Strawn Los Angeles

Winston & Strawn LLP today announced Michael Tomasulo has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner in the intellectual property practice. Mr. Tomasulo’s practice focuses on high stakes intellectual property litigation and counseling for a wide array of technology clients. Mr. Tomasulo practiced with the same group for 17 years, most recently with Jones Day and then Dickstein Shapiro in Los Angeles.

Mr. Tomasulo has been a practicing patent litigator since 1994, and has had substantial involvement in well over 30 patent litigations. His cases have ranged from representing patent owners in large, complex patent litigation to defending clients in patent troll litigation. He has appeared in patent cases throughout the country, including in all California District Courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the Eastern District of Texas, the Northern District of Illinois and the District of Delaware. Mr. Tomasulo also has significant experience as lead counsel in trade secret, copyright and trademark litigation, as well as arbitrations involving breach of contract cases.

Mr. Tomasulo’s patent cases have involved a variety of technologies, including video games, flash memory controllers, Internet search and database management, software patents, gamma ray inspection equipment, high-brightness LEDs, computer hardware emulation, mechanical equipment, yoga pants, medical devices and biotechnology.

Mr. Tomasulo donates his time as a court-appointed attorney settlement officer for patent litigation matters in the Central District of California. He credits this invaluable experience with helping him achieve early, cost-effective settlements for his clients. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering, with honors, from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from the University of Southern California. He is a licensed patent attorney.
