BakerHostetler Adds Well-Known Trial Litigator David Aronoff in Los Angeles

BakerHostetler announced today that David Aronoff has joined the firm’s Litigation Practice Group as a partner in Los Angeles. During his more than 30-year career, Aronoff has handled a broad range of complex litigation matters, including financial services litigation under the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), securities work, business disputes and products liability. Aronoff joins from Winston & Strawn LLP, where he was involved in senior management, including serving as the former Los Angeles chair of litigation and as a member of the firm’s Compensation and Finance committees.

Aronoff led nationwide sports products and helmet concussion litigation involving individual and class claims for product liability, litigated business disputes over billions of dollars in assets among high net worth individuals, and he is recognized nationally for his work in consumer class actions under the Class Action Fairness Act.

“I am absolutely thrilled to add a top talent like David to our litigation bench in California. He brings to the firm additional experience in securities, false advertising, products liability and other areas of general complex commercial litigation. This is a big win for the firm, as David is a rare individual with the ear of many boards of directors,” said Eric Sagerman, managing partner of BakerHostetler’s Los Angeles office. “In addition to his broad practice experience, David brings an extensive network of business contacts at the highest levels of corporate America.”

Over a three-decade career, Aronoff has tried more than 35 matters before juries, ranging from complex business disputes to intellectual property matters and products liability. He has also served as lead counsel in over 25 internal investigations for public and private companies, with emphasis on the conduct of employees, officers and directors. Apart from maintaining an active docket, Aronoff focuses pro bono efforts on assisting United States veterans.

W. Ray Whitman, chair of BakerHostetler’s Litigation Practice Group, added, “David’s overall capabilities are extraordinary, and he is a terrific fit with our growing team of top-notch, first-chair trial lawyers. His experience in securities and FINRA litigation also complements the strengths of our greater litigation practice across the firm.”

“I am excited to become part of a litigation group that is involved in such high-profile matters as the PG&E bankruptcy, the opioid litigation and the Madoff recoveries. I plan to leverage the incredible mega-case platform for the benefit of my clients,” said Aronoff. “I also find the firm’s emphasis on culture, brand building and growth, particularly on the West Coast, to be very appealing.”

He is Chambers-rated and included in The Best Lawyers in America.
