Barnes & Thornburg has added Soo Y. Park as a partner in the Los Angeles office. Park joins the firm’s acclaimed Labor and Employment Department. Park arrives at the firm from Fisher & Phillips LLP in Los Angeles.
Park’s practice focuses on labor and employment litigation and employment counseling. She defends employers against a broad array of claims brought by employees ranging from wage and hour class actions to disputes with individual employees alleging wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, and sexual harassment, as well as trade secrets and unfair competition.
“Soo’s practice encompasses a broad array of employment litigation and counsel, from hiring and termination to drafting policies that proactively manage risk,” said Kenneth J. Yerkes, chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. “As employers look to navigate the increasingly complex employment landscape in 2023 and beyond, Soo’s knowledge will be an invaluable resource.”
In addition to her litigation experience, Park has handled traditional labor matters, including union campaigns, negotiations, and defending and filing charges before the National Labor Relations Board. Additionally, Park counsels clients to ensure labor and employment law compliance. She frequently handles matters involving hiring and termination processes, wage and hour practice compliance, exemption status, harassment training, reasonable accommodations and meal and rest break policy. Park also drafts various contracts and employer materials including employee handbooks and agreements.
“Soo is a well-rounded litigator and counsel to her clients and is a trusted source in matters involving day-to-day operations and high-stakes disputes,” said Kevin D. Rising, Los Angeles office managing partner. “We are excited to welcome Soo to our Los Angeles office as we continue to grow our labor and employment team.”
Park earned her J.D. from Loyola Marymount University Loyola Law School and her B.A. from Tufts University, cum laude.
