Global law firm Goodwin today announced that Alex Jacobs has joined the firm’s Real Estate Industry practice as a partner in the downtown Los Angeles office. Jacobs joins the firm from Pircher, Nichols & Meeks in Los Angeles.
Jacobs advises private and institutional investors, owners, and developers in connection with the acquisition, disposition, development, and financing of commercial real estate properties. He also negotiates and structures complex joint venture arrangements between sponsors and capital providers. Jacobs represents clients in transactions involving a wide range of asset types including land for residential development, multifamily residential projects, retail properties, office buildings, and hotels and resorts.
“With significant capital currently earmarked for real estate investment, there remains a considerable demand for sophisticated real estate transactional legal services throughout the major metropolitan West Coast markets,” said Minta Kay, chair of the Real Estate Industry practice. “The high caliber of Alex’s expertise and the fit of his client relationships with Goodwin’s add valuable depth to our practice, which continues to evolve to meet the industry’s needs, including adoption of technology and response to the changing use of the real estate hardscape. We are extremely excited about having him join our team.”
“As Minta said, we are thrilled to welcome Alex as we grow our downtown LA and Santa Monica offices and as we continue to invest in the firm’s capital-meets-innovation platform in California,” said Dean Pappas, chair of Goodwin’s downtown Los Angeles office. “Alex’s practice complements the skillsets of our existing real estate and hospitality industry team on the West Coast and having him on board further positions us as one of the dominant real estate industry practices in the United States and Europe.”
Jacobs was named to “Who’s Who in Real Estate” by Los Angeles Business Journal in 2013 and nominated for the 2019 Leaders in Law Awards hosted by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
