Hamilton represents corporate and institutional owners of large property portfolios, including public and private real estate investment trusts (REITs). He is also nationally recognized for his borrower-side real estate finance practice representing numerous institutional borrowers in loans of all shapes and sizes across the nation. Over 20+ years, Hamilton has originated hundreds of loans on behalf of borrowers totaling more than US $125 billion. An environmental geologist and geophysicist by training, Hamilton also advises property owners and investors on environmentally contaminated properties.
Evans has extensive experience in complex real estate transactions, including the representation of clients buying, selling, leasing, and developing commercial real estate. He also has experience in sophisticated financing transactions, including real estate finance transactions and other asset-based financings. He has a particular expertise in resolving issues related to secured corporate facilities, purchase and sale transactions, and joint ventures.

With the arrival of Hamilton and Evans, seven lateral partners have joined O’Melveny’s Corporate Department in the past six months, including Todd Boes, Terrence Dugan, Christopher Owens, Jason Kaplan, and Jeff Norton.

Hamilton is a thought leader on innovation in the practice of law and the application of technology to the practice. He also has extensive experience in the area of digital assets and new technologies such as smart contracts and the application of blockchain to real estate and finance, having spoken on those topics at MIT’s Media Lab and the World Economic Forum in Davos. The National Law Journal recently named him an “NLJ Trailblazer” in real estate, and Chambers USA has ranked him since 2013. Hamilton is a leader in the real estate bar, serving as a board or faculty member with the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the American Law Institute, the American Bar Association, and Practising Law Institute, and as a prior adjunct faculty member with the USC, Loyola, and Pepperdine law schools. He earned his AB in geology from Hamilton College and his MA in geology and geophysics from Rice University. He earned his JD from the University of Oregon School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Oregon Law Review.
Evans is actively involved with a number of nonprofit organizations and serves on the board of directors of Pasadena Heritage, a historic preservation group. He earned his BA from the University of California at Irvine and JD from University of Arizona College of Law, summa cum laude.
