Brett Willis, a seasoned tax lawyer with in-depth knowledge of the private equity space, has joined Pillsbury as a partner in firm’s Los Angeles office. Willis, who advises on a broad spectrum of transactions, including the tax aspects of private equity funds, mergers and acquisitions and partnerships, joins from Oaktree Capital Management, where he was Senior Vice President.
Naeun Rim’s extensive experience leading high-stakes civil and criminal trials adds to the firm’s national litigation capabilities. Rim comes to the firm from Bird Marella in Los Angeles.

Global law firm Goodwin announced today that Arman Oruc has joined the firm as partner in the Antitrust and Competition practice, resident in the Los Angeles office. His appointment follows the recent arrival of antitrust partner Andy Lacy in April. Mr. Oruc comes to Goodwin from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.
Michael Tu has joined Cooley as a partner in its securities litigation practice in Los Angeles. Arriving from Orrick, where he headed the firm’s Southern California securities practice, Tu brings more than two decades of litigation experience, including shareholder litigation, regulatory investigations and proceedings, and mergers acquisitions disputes under federal and state securities laws.
