The Firm represented Oaktree Capital Group, LLC (“Oaktree”) in its initial public offering of 8.8 million units representing limited liability company interests.  Oaktree is a Los Angeles-based investment management firm with approximately $75 billion of assets under management.  Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley were the joint global coordinators for the $380 million offering.  The units began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “OAK” on April 12, 2012.

Simpson Thacher recently represented Goldman, Sachs & Co. as sole placement agent in the private placement of $128 million in equity securities of Legend Pictures, LLC, the parent company of Legendary Entertainment. Legendary plans to use the net proceeds of the transaction to retire and refinance debt and for investment and working capital purposes.
