The law firm WilmerHale today announced the arrival of Partner James Hill to its Los Angeles office. Dr. Hill, who earned his MD from the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, joins the firm in the Intellectual Property Department and will also be a member of the IP Litigation and Life Sciences Practices.
“We are thrilled to welcome James to the firm,” said Randall R. Lee, partner-in-charge of WilmerHale’s Los Angeles office. “James’ expertise in intellectual property—one of the firm’s core strengths—will be of tremendous value as we continue to grow our Los Angeles office, and will enhance our IP capabilities nationwide.”
Dr. Hill joins WilmerHale from the Southern California office of an Am Law 100 firm, where he was a partner for nearly a decade. A Chambers USA-ranked life sciences practitioner, Dr. Hill focuses his practice on strategic counseling and litigation, IP due diligence, and patent prosecution and licensing in the areas of medical devices, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, software, and signal and imaging processing. With his medical degree and related experience, Dr. Hill is especially skilled at serving clients in the medical device, biology and genetics fields.
“James will add further depth to our IP practice on the West Coast, especially in the life sciences and medical device areas,” said Don Steinberg, chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. “James’ experience and knowledge will enhance our ability to serve clients in counseling, prosecution and litigation matters.”
“With its leading life sciences practice, WilmerHale is an ideal fit with my background and experience, and I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to further expand the firm’s IP practice, to grow the LA office, and to use my skills to serve the firm’s impressive roster of clients facing complex issues,” said Dr. Hill.
