Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce that Edward (Ed) Prokop has joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice as a partner in the Los Angeles office. Ed joins Winston from Sidley Austin LLP.
Ed’s practice includes various types of complex real estate transactions, including financings, net lease deals, acquisitions, and dispositions.
“Continued expansion on the West Coast is important to our overall practice diversification and geographic balance in the U.S.,” said Winston Chairman Tom Fitzgerald. “Ed’s addition is strategically aligned with our goals to augment our transactional capabilities and add depth to our national real estate practice.”
Ed has significant experience in certain specialized areas, including large portfolio sale-leaseback transactions and residential mortgage loan platforms.
“Ed is a talented attorney who practices at the intersection of real estate, finance, and private equity,” said Corey Tessler, chair of Winston’s Real Estate Practice. “His client base and practice are a natural fit for our platform.”
During his 23-year career, he has represented a wide variety of clients, including real estate funds, opportunity funds, investment banks, and retail companies.
“We continue to identify talent that complements our offerings in Los Angeles and nationally,” said Eva Davis, managing partner of Winston’s Los Angeles office and co-chair of the firm’s Private Equity Practice. “Ed’s focus on real estate funds and transactions will enhance our growing private equity practice and further diversify our deal flow and deal mix, which makes him a great addition to the firm.”
“I am excited to begin the next chapter of my career at Winston & Strawn,” said Ed. “This is an ideal platform for my clients and I look forward to helping the firm further build out its real estate presence on the West Coast.”
Ed graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University and earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. He currently serves on the Board of Managers of the Stuart M. Ketchum Downtown YMCA in Los Angeles.
