International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce the appointment of Miguel Ángel de la Fuente as a partner in its Mexico City office. Miguel Ángel joins from Spanish law firm Garrigues, where he was a principal associate.
Miguel Ángel, who will lead on the international aspects of DAC Beachcroft’s business in Mexico, has represented both national and foreign clients with operations in Mexico, particularly businesses in the insurance, reinsurance, banking and financial sectors. He has extensive experience advising on claims management and structuring policy wordings, mainly in Property and Casualty, Marine and Energy, including Financial Lines. He also provides regulatory and compliance advice to insurers, as well as offering corporate advice related to M&A, financing and corporate governance.
Miguel Ángel’s hire is one of several strategic moves DAC Beachcroft has made in recent months to bolster its international presence and capabilities. Earlier this year the firm welcomed leading insurance partner Ana Catalina Restrepo in Bogota and dispute resolution expert Mercedes Romero in Madrid. It also announced a combination with Spanish law firm Asjusa, adding three partners and a 20-strong team of healthcare-focused professional liability and insurance lawyers to its Madrid office, and added corporate/commercial and competition capabilities in Dublin.
Helen Faulkner, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of Insurance, said, “It is our strategic aim to expand and invest further in our international locations, ensuring a strong presence in the key insurance markets where our clients choose to operate. Latin America is a particular focus for us. A number of our key insurer clients operate across the region and reinforcing our international capabilities in Mexico and across the wider region will ensure we remain the international law firm of choice for the global insurance industry.”
Andrés Amunátegui, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of Latin America, said, “We are very excited to welcome Miguel Ángel to the team. He is recognised in the market as a strong insurance practitioner, committed to excellence and with a recognisable international approach. We have ambitious growth plans in Mexico and Miguel Ángel will be a true asset to develop our business with the key hubs of Miami, London and Madrid, giving our clients the local knowledge and international reach they expect from a firm of our calibre.”
Enrique Urbano, partner and Head of DAC Beachcroft’s Mexico City office, added, “Our clients are at the heart of everything we do, and the addition of Miguel Ángel and his expertise to our team will be a significant benefit for them. His international approach is something we value greatly, and we look forward to working with him to enhance our brand and reputation further in the Mexican market.”
With one of the largest insurance practices of any law firm in the UK, DAC Beachcroft operates from eleven UK locations and internationally from offices in Ireland, Spain, France, the United States, Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile. The firm is also a founding member of Legalign Global, a closely integrated alliance of four multi-national law firms with 60 offices across the globe.
