Jones Day expands Mexico City Office with the arrival of Luis Rubio and team

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that four partners, one of counsel, and a team of associates are joining the Firm in its Mexico City Office. Luis Rubio Barnetche joins as a partner in the Government Regulation Practice, together with partners Bertha Alicia Ordaz Avilés and Octavio Lecona Morales. Mayer Brown strengthens oil and gas capabilities with addition of Global Energy partner Francisco Mendez

Mayer Brown announced today that Francisco Mendez has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Energy practice. Previously, he spent nearly 20 years at ExxonMobil Corporation as in-house counsel for Latin America, where he most recently advised the company on the opening of the oil and gas industry in Mexico to the private sector. Mr. Mendez will be based in the Houston office of Mayer Brown.

With the joining of Mr. Mendez, the firm takes another step towards consolidating its position as a market leader in connection with Mexico’s energy reform. In addition, subject to Mexican legal and regulatory requirements, Mayer Brown intends to open a representative office in Mexico City that, if approved, would focus on serving clients operating and investing in the oil, gas and power industries in Mexico.

Ogletree Deakins Expands International Platform, Opens Mexico City Office

Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that the firm is expanding its international platform by opening an office in Mexico City. The firm has previously opened offices in Berlin, Germany and London, England to meet the growing demand for international legal services. The firm’s new office allows the firm to provide local labor and employment support and solutions for clients with operations in Mexico.

The Mexico City office will be led by Pietro Straulino-Rodriguez, who joins Ogletree Deakins from Sánchez Devanny, where he served as the co-head of the firm’s Labor, Social Security and Immigration practice group. DLA Piper represents Clarion Partners in sale of Mexican joint venture

DLA Piper represented Clarion Partners, LLC in the sale of its 50% interest in a commercial real estate joint venture to partner Frisa, a Mexican real estate investment group. Clarion is a New York-based real estate investment manager with more than US$30 billion in total assets under management.

The joint venture portfolio included nine Class A shopping centers totaling 3.17 million square feet, and is valued at approximately US$600 million. The transaction closed in July.
