Foley announced today that Arturo (Art) Requenez II has joined the firm as a partner in the Miami office, working with the Private Equity & Venture Capital, Transactional & Securities and Latin America Practices. Previously, Requenez was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig LLP in Miami.
Requenez has extensive corporate and securities experience spanning more than 75 countries throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He focuses his practice on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, fund formation and management, and international and transactional tax planning. He advises a wide variety of clients involved in domestic and international business matters, including public and private companies, investment banks, investment funds, boards, family offices, business owners, and entrepreneurs.
“When it comes to dealing with complex private equity and M&A transactions, the broad array of capabilities Art brings to Foley coupled with the national scope of his practice will make him a sought-after advisor for our clients in the Northeast, Southeast and across the United States,” said Gabor Garai, chair of Foley’s Private Equity & Venture Capital Practice.
Requenez will also work closely with attorneys throughout the firm handling transactions in Latin America, including Francisco Cerezo, who joined Foley’s Miami office in 2011 as chair of the firm’s Latin America Practice.
“Art’s arrival to the firm advances our already strong transactional and private equity practices in Miami, while also expanding our services in Latin America,” said Cerezo. “As global businesses continue to invest in their operations within the Latin American market, Art’s wide-ranging experience in cross-border transactions and international business matters will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”
Requenez’s private equity experience includes the full range of public and private debt and equity vehicles and their investment activities. He advises buyers and sellers in connection with strategic and financial transactions, working on the structuring and operation of diverse types of private equity funds.
“Art is a valued addition to our team and will enhance our service to clients doing business in Latin America,” said William Davis, managing partner of Foley’s Miami office. “He is one of seven talented attorneys recently added as we continue to grow our Miami office.”
Earlier in his career, Requenez was a partner and practice chair at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, and prior to that, was an advisor at PricewaterhouseCoopers on mergers and acquisitions. Requenez is an adjunct law professor at Georgetown University Law Center and at the University of Miami School of Law. He is also a frequent author and speaker on topics related to private equity, mergers and acquisitions, taxation, and hedge funds.
