Jay Koren has joined Akerman Senterfitt as a shareholder in the firm’s Taxation Practice Group and will be based in Akerman’s Miami office.
Koren has 33 years of experience in state and local tax matters with a concentration in Florida controversy and dispute resolution. He has represented more than 125 of the Fortune 500 companies in Florida, specializing in tax planning; statutory and constitutional issues in corporate income tax and sales tax matters; audit defense and protests; negotiating voluntary disclosures; and drafting of technical opinions.
He joins from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, having led the Florida state and local tax practice since 1999. Koren’s court admissions include the Florida Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court.
Koren is a past member of the Florida Bar Substantive Law Committee and past chairman of the Taxation Committee of the Florida Bankers Association. He is a member of the American Bar Association and Florida Bar Association and is admitted to The Florida Bar.
