Lewis R. Cohen has joined GrayRobinson, P.A. as a shareholder in the firm’s Miami office and brings with him Associate Christina Guzman. Cohen brings more than 32 years of experience in commercial practice to the firm, with a strong background in advising banks and representing lenders. Both Cohen and Guzman will focus their practice on banking and finance issues.

Cohen is often quoted as a source for banking and financial related legal matters in national publications. Throughout his career, he has dedicated his practice to banks, corporations, business organizations and commercial enterprises – representing them on a range of matters, including deposit operations, electronic and online banking, vendor contracts, loan operations, commercial finance, loan documentation, and regulatory matters including the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act. He has served as general counsel for United National Bank in Miami and as outside general counsel for a number of community and regional banks. He also represents individuals in a variety of commercial matters, including real estate purchase and sales, development, contracts, dispute resolution and commercial litigation.
He has earned the “AV” rating from Martindale Hubbell, the highest peer-review rating a legal professional can receive and is listed in The Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers. He has also been named one of South Florida’s “Top Lawyers” by the South Florida Legal Guide every year since 2005.Cohen received his juris doctorate from Stetson University College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Boston University with cum laude honors.
Guzman’s practice primarily focuses on commercial law and litigation, with an emphasis on the financial services industry. This includes licensing and regulation of banks, remittance forwarders, and other money services businesses. Guzman graduated magna cum laude from both the University of Miami and the University of Miami School of Law.
