Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced that Arturo Ross has joined the firm as a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group from Gunster. He further expands the group’s presence in Miami, marking the ninth partner to join Akerman’s national Labor and Employment Practice Group in 2019.
Ross maintains a broad national and local practice representing employers of all sizes in all aspects of labor and employment law. He regularly represents clients in matters before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Labor (DOL), and in multiple state and federal courts. Ross’ primary focus is on union-related matters, including collective bargaining, labor arbitrations, election campaigns, and proceedings before the NLRB. In his more than 25 years of practice, Ross has defended, prosecuted or otherwise represented clients in hundreds of cases before the NLRB.
In addition, a significant part of Ross’ practice involves counseling employers on day-to-day employee issues. He has conducted litigation avoidance and union prevention training for hundreds of employers, and has helped them to address the morale-compromising issues and the financially damaging consequences of coordinated economic attacks from inside and outside a company.
Akerman has made a number of notable additions to the Labor and Employment Practice Group in key geographical markets in 2019. Most recently, Sul Kim, Erica Mason, and Peter Spanos joined Akerman’s newly announced office in Atlanta. In Los Angeles, Michael Gallion, David Van Pelt, and Damien DeLaney were hired in recent months, while Brian Nugent joined Akerman in Denver, and Amy Moor Gaylord in Chicago.
