Cozen O’Connor is pleased to welcome a team of three lawyers with extensive immigration experience to the firm’s Miami office. Scott E. Bettridge, Michael W. Stevenson and Daniela Berisiartu Barshel join Cozen O’Connor from Fox Rothschild and will continue their focus on employment–based immigration and advising both U.S. and foreign companies on corporate finance and infrastructure development, while maximizing opportunities under the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program.
Bettridge, Stevenson and Barshel advise on and process a wide array of immigration services for both corporate and individual clients including nonimmigrant visas (H-1B, L-1, E-2, O-1, P-1 etc.) and permanent residence options (including EB-1 and PERM), family-based immigration and citizenship matters, as well as with I‑9 review and compliance issues. Bettridge and his team also have broad expertise advising U.S. and foreign companies on matters involving relocation, economic tax incentives, corporate finance and infrastructure development as well as maximizing opportunities under the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program.
“Scott, Michael and Daniela have extensive experience in all aspects of immigration law and specifically the EB-5 Program,” said Martin T. Schrier, Office Managing Partner of the Miami office and vice chair of Cozen O’Connor’s corporate practice group. “In addition to being great colleagues, Scott and his team are exactly the type of leading immigration attorneys we were seeking to add in Miami. Their addition to our Miami office provides our international clients with top notch immigration capabilities, and provides our domestic clients additional opportunities for capital investment by foreign investors in South Florida and across the United States. We expect this team to be a tremendous asset firm-wide in coming years for our clients, providing them efficient and effective advice on immigration law and strategy.”
Bettridge, who joins the firm as a member, Stevenson and Barshel, both of whom are associates, will all be members of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment Group. “It is an exciting time as the firm continues to expand the Miami office” said Scott Bettridge. “This expansion presented a compelling opportunity for us and our national immigration experience complements Cozen O’Connor’s strong, national labor and employment platform and exceptional transactional practice.” Cozen O’Connor has experienced significant growth in South Florida over the past few years, increasing its attorney count from 4 to 37. Most recently, the firm’s Miami office welcomed a team of 15 nationally-recognized intellectual property lawyers from Feldman Gale in June.
