Cary Aronovitz is joining Holland & Knight’s Miami office as a partner after serving for six years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida. He will focus his practice on government investigations, corporate compliance, complex commercial litigation, corporate and consumer fraud investigations, and class action defense.
“Cary’s experience, skill set and background will allow him to assist in a wide variety of cases,” said Adolfo Jimenez, leader of Holland & Knight’s South Florida Litigation Practice Group. “He is an asset to our white collar team members, who know Cary well after having worked together at the U.S. Attorneys’ Office or know him from having previously worked with the firm. He also brings valuable experience prosecuting fraudulent transfer cases and recovering financial assets, which will be helpful to the firm’s financial services clients. Cary was a valuable asset when he was with us, and the experience he gained the last seven years prepares him well for this new chapter.”
Mr. Aronovitz served in the Special Prosecutions Section during his time at the Department of Justice where he handled investigations and cases involving numerous federal offenses, including money laundering, human trafficking of minors, organized crime activities, narcotics trafficking, aggravated identity theft and fraud against the United States. He also tried numerous jury trials before nearly every district court judge in the Southern District of Florida and argued cases before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Aronovitz’s past experience includes serving as a law clerk to Magistrate Judge Alicia O. Valle of the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida and as an associate for three years at Holland & Knight. In 2020 he was recognized as one of the Florida Trend Legal Elite in the government/non-profit category.
“Holland & Knight provided me with great training and experience as an associate,” said Mr. Aronovitz. “The firm’s South Florida Litigation team is home to so many respected and talented attorneys whom I’ve remained friends with over the years. I’m proud to be joining their ranks again.”
