Lawyer Biographies
Mike Silva – Partner
Mike advises on international tax law, focusing on US investment structures, cross-border tax issues, tax treaty planning, withholding obligations of US real property investments and US activities of foreign banks. He has significant experience advising on the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act in respect of third-party reporting obligations by global financial entities. Mike also maintains a private client practice, representing high-net-worth family offices based around the world. Mike received his M. Acc. and JD from the University of Florida.
Greg Weigand – Partner
Greg focuses his practice on US and international tax and advises on federal, international, multi-state and local tax planning and implementation. He has extensive experience counseling both individual and corporate Latin American clients on their inbound investments. Greg regularly works with individual clients on international tax reporting and compliance matters. Greg received his MBA and JD from the University of Miami.
Arianne Plasencia – Partner
Arianne advises on international and domestic income, estate and gift tax issues. Her practice focuses on closely held entities and high-net-worth individuals, particularly those making inbound investments in the United States. She also advises regularly on complex trust structures for cross-border families with investments in the US and abroad. Arianne received her LL. M. and JD from The Georgetown University Law Center.
Ryan Coyle – Counsel
Ryan focuses his practice on international tax law, with an emphasis on providing tax-efficient restructuring solutions to high-net-worth individuals, their families and related business concerns. Ryan received his JD from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his LL. M. from The Georgetown University Law Center.
The team joins McDermott from DLA Piper. This group’s arrival builds on steady growth over the last two years for the Firm’s Tax practice group including Manuel Rajunov in Dallas as well as Steven Hadjilogiou, Michael Bruno and Keith Hagan in Miami. Client demand also precipitated the move of Private Client partner Melissa Price from New York City to Miami.
